ROWLAND / TUDOR WIN HERMAN LUCERNE TOURNAMENT
Capt. Tom Rowland of Key West and Capt. Rich Tudor of Islamorada teamed up to take on the challenge of the Herman Lucerne Tournament in the Everglades National Park.
The tournament requires that teams attempt to catch 7 of 8 available species including: Bonefish, Tarpon, Redfish, Snook, Snapper, Trout and either a Black Drum or a Black Bass. Winners are determined by total number of inches of the largest of each species recorded.
Rowland/Tudor were able to catch a 27 inch Snook, 25 inch Redfish, 17 inch Trout, 30 inch Tarpon, 15 inch Snapper and a 15 inch Black Bass to win the overall title. They were the only team to complete the difficult task of capturing all 7 species and won by a margin of 30 inches over the rest of the field.

For their efforts, Rowland and Tudor were awarded a Hell's Bay flats skiff valued at over $30,000.
Speaking of the teams Maverick HPXv with a Yamaha 115, Tudor said, "We would have never been able to fish as effectively as we did had it not been for the boat we were fishing from. It is the most versatile boat in the world and enhances our fishing."
Rowland added "Rich and I work very well together. We compliment each others strengths and weaknesses and that is the recipe for a great team. Rich is the finest fisherman that I have ever known and I am proud to have him as my partner in a tournament like this and also on the Professional Redfish Tour."
Sponsored by Oakley, Quantum Maverick and Yamaha, Tudor and Rowland fish in the Mercury/Ranger Redfish Tour as well as other tournaments together. Their next event is in Punta Gorda, Florida. |
