Just watched your Bahia Honda Tarpon show and the question I have is how close to the bottom do you hang the crab? I mean is it 1 foot, 2 feet? I know at Long Key Bridge you have to put the mullet pretty much right in front of them.

You want the crab to go in front of as many fish as possible. You can use your sonar to mark the depth that they are layin and try to get the crab to go right through them. Somedays that will be mid column and others closer to the bottom.

I watched your show last Saturday – cool show!

We fished Bahia Honda for 3 days straight in May. we went through the same issue you did by not getting bit for the first 1.5 days until we added weight between our float and crab. But still never as well as some of the other boats.

How much weight did you add?

Is there any distinct advantages using balloons over styrofoam floats?

What is the distance between floats and hook?

    Thank you in advance.

      Here is the complete rig:

I used 2 split shots. One in my pocket and one on the line. I add or take off as the current dictates. We are using a 20 foot leader

If you use a styrofoam cork, put it on backwards so the small end is toward the boat. This will help greatly in bringing it back to you over and over.

I like balloons because I can use heavier weight if necessary and adjust the size of the balloon to keep it afloat. Plus…the balloon is what I had that day and usually keep tons of them on the boat. You can keep 100 balloons in a small space where 100 floats would be tough to fit anywhere.

I think the video will answer the rest of your questions, but post again if you need help

What size yeti was on the front of the boat for the Bahia Honda Tarpon show?

      Thanks Travis,
That was a 65 Yeti. I really like the 65 and 75 size for the boat. I have used bigger but they get heavy when full and trying to put them on the deck.

What time of year was the Bahia Honda tarpon episode filmed? Are you guys for hire? Never caught a Tarpon before.

The Bahia Show was filmed in May. May and June are fantastic. We are very busy with the show and can not guide like we used to but I suggest
