Trim the tag and go! One of Capt. Scott Walker's own Aussie Quickie knots
The Aussie Quickie Knot for braid to fluorocarbon shown above with braid and fluorocarbon and below with heavy cord
When Capt. Scott Walker, of Into the Blue, talks rigging...I listen. Scott is meticulous and pays incredible attention to detail. You can bet that anything that shows up on his boat has been tested, retested and then tested again before he decides to go with it.
If you take a look at all of Capt. Scott Walker's rods that have braided line on them, they will all have the most beautiful little knot as the connection. The knot is the Aussie Quickie.
Check out the knot below:
I really do like this knot very much. The only downside to it is that it does require a Bimini Twist in the Braided line. (Learn how to tie the Bimini Twist by clicking here) The other thing that some may not like about this knot is that the tag sticks out at a right angle. It is so compact that I have not seen this be an issue but it could be in certain situations.

All the best,

The Clinch Knot is also called the Fisherman's knot and it is the most widely used knot in fishing. It is often the first knot that any fisherman learns and has applications throughout fishing in both fresh and saltwater.
There are really 2 versions of this knot, the clinch and the Improved Clinch. The Clinch knot is shown above in slow motion with heavy high visibility cord over a black background to make it extremely easy to see how to tie this knot.
