With a tailored trailer, launching can becomes effortless, but there are still some tricks to perfect loading and unloading no matter what kind of trailer you have. The trailer has to be in the right position to allow the boat to slide off the trailer with minimum effort and it also has to be in the right spot for the boat to load properly. Put it in too deep and the wind can blow the boat over the trailer, too shallow and it simply can’t get up on the trailer. On every boat and trailer I have ever owned, I practice putting the boat in a few times when the ramp is not busy to find this perfect spot. On my current boat it is when the wheel well is 1/2 way covered with water. I can easily see this when I look in the rear view mirrors and I know it is right before I ever get out of the truck. In the video, I show you exactly where this spot is and I can hit it every time. Some people might mark the spot with a little electrical tape or other mark that you can see from the drivers seat. With a custom fitted trailer, preferably welded and not bolted together, your boat will slide on and off the trailer perfectly every time.

Choose a quiet time at the ramp (Monday morning is gold).
Slowly back in until the bunks are just submerged—not too deep, not too shallow.
Mark your spot (e.g., "waterline hits Yellowfin sticker").
