The J Knot was taught to me by Dave Justice and has been a standby in my fishing ever since. It is a simple knot, really, that combines the best of 2 knots to create a strong, reliable and quick knot for fluorocarbon to braid.
We will tie a uni knot with the fluorocarbon and an improved clinch knot with the braid. One of the qualities I like the most about this knot is the little ramp that is built on the braid side of the knot which helps the knot slip in and out of the guides easily.
Below, you will find a step by step video of the J Knot. It has become my go-to knot for so many situations.
Please let me know what you think of the J Knot and post some pictures of the fish you catch with it to our social media or just tag us in them!
Please share this post across your own social media so we can help more people become better anglers.
All the best,
Tom Rowland
